The approach to fifty is like reaching the top of the highest point on the roller coaster as your cart slows and struggles twice as hard to conquer the summit. Once you arrive at the top, there is just a single moment to observe the beauty of the acme before you are confronted by the view of the precipitous descent of the track below. Keep your eyes on the track and both hands on the bar, and may you shriek a child's cry of joy, release and exilleration as you coast through the balance of your amusement ride.
Cathederal view
Give time, time
Live2Give
Racing through life with no time in the day,
Pacing in strife, no time for delay;
Embracing the day, making time for need,
Giving one's self, absolves the sin of greed.

i like the ferris wheel metaphor for reaching fifty. i have a long way to go and i think i wouldn't mind reaching the topmost part and taking in the view. Nice hub! Thanks for sharing :D
Nice Hub, thanks for the mental break...
I'm about 3/4 into my present ferris wheel ride...looking forward to the next turn on the wheel...
I really like the poem. It really tells it so well. We do race through each day. Why do we not take the time to smell the roses. And with these computers ...we need I say anymore. Each and everyone of us is strapped to our chairs nightly or daily and sometimes both ...trying to get ahead or keep up.
Thank you for sharing your point of view about fifty. Actually ..I feel like I am now on a roller coaster ride and I can't get off. Things are going too fast to actually enjoy watching. And sometimes it is rather scary.
Look forward to reading more. Keep up the great hubs. My best to you!
