Try-sexual, Bi-Sexual, Homosexual and Heterosexual Safe Sex, Risky Sex and Great Sex

I am a self-professed "Trysexual" which defies categorization and just expresses my open-mindedness and willingness to TRY anything sexual. To be uninhibited with a sexual partner means to embrace the arousal and fantasies of the partner and satisfy them through role playing and participation.

Some mistake my label as a preference for threesome sexual encounters, a "love triangle", or a French Ménage à trois . These are simply a fantasy to all but one percent of the privileged ONE PERCENT. You know who you are!. But even for the privileged few, this is a pleasure with a concrete disadvantage. There is always one in the group who is more interested in emptying another's wallet than they are in protecting themselves from dangerous bodily fluids. There is plausible deniability with three that just doesn't exist with only two.

Think about it and you'll see what I mean?

Three individuals engaged in sexual activities is the common understanding of the term, "threesome". This is not to be confused with the parlance of the golfing community and the starter who routinely sends foursomes onto the links and is sometimes left with the occasional "threesome".

"Love triangles" are not necessarily sexual but can be. Our cultural references are filled with stories of three individuals enmeshed in overlapping relationships, not necessarily adulterous but always complicated. Our literature, music, mass media and personal experience present daily examples of real and perceived "love triangles".

The French term, Ménage à trois, originally referred to a domestic arrangement of three persons having sexual relations living in the same household (household of three). Currently, the meaning of the French phrase has been extended to refer to any living arrangement among three people, whether or not there is or are sexual relations. The term also refers to the sexual act involving three persons which renders the term sexually suggestive in most contexts.

Everything on the market today is packaged in a sexual wrapper. From alcohol to zen, the advertising and marketing world has found a sexual angle to make the product more desirable.

Want and desire are the common elements of human nature's essential instinct to mate and procreate. Arousal rather than lust is the object of appeal. The subliminal message is more often than not that the product or service will make its owner more desirable to others.

Fashion, cosmetics, perfume, after-shave, razor blades, jewelry, nylons, lingerie and high heeled shoes are the trappings of sex and sex appeal.

Guns, automobiles, boats, homes, furnishings and high priced luxury items are symbols of wealth and power which translate into financial dominance. This is the metaphor for access to sexual gratification.

Soaps, shampoos, fitness, weight loss and personal care products are directly linked to personal sexual appeal and attraction.

Candlelit dinners, exotic vacations, intoxicating wines and fragrances of flowers are associated with romance and sexual desire through our literature and culture. Many foods are erotic and sweet and satisfy the libido. Rich chocolates and truffles come to mind. Want, desire, indulgence and satisfaction are the pattern of human behavior in which we all partake.

Self-denial and deferred gratification are concepts of spiritual discipline which are fading from modern culture in favor of materialism. Why bother resist temptation in today's society? As the importance of the family and community erodes, our self-centeredness thrives.

More often than not, our best and only sexual experiences are alone. Auto-erotocism has supplanted more social forms of sexual gratification which have traditionally been available through romance, relationship and marriage. The fear of acquiring sexually transmitted viral diseases from herpes to AIDS/HIV have served as an incentive to monogamous relationships and disincentive to the sexual promiscuity of the sixties and seventies.

Havelock Ellis was a pioneer sexologist who developed the important psychological concepts of autoerotism and narcissism which Sigmund Freud further developed. Dr. Ellis co-authored the first medical textbook on homosexuality in English in 1897. His work was notably objective in that it did not characterize homosexuality as immoral, criminal or as a disease.

The satisfaction of the needs of another, including sexual needs, has become a burden and inconvenience to many and they have retreated into isolation and loneliness. Rather than risk the emotional pain of rejection and the burden of compromise and accommodation in relationships, many marriages and relationships are discarded and abandoned in favor of self-seeking behaviors.

The fabric of traditional society has been torn by the ready accessibility of pornography, prostitution and human slavery. The domination, subjugation and exploitation of others has made us less human and eviscerated our spirits.

Masturbation for both men and women has evolved as the common sexual outlet. Anecdotal evidence abounds as to its tendency to relieve conditions of stress, insomnia, depression and boredom. From what I hear, it must be quite pleasurable.

2. William Masters and Virginia Johnson (Masters and Johnson) studied the psychology and physiology of sexual behavior in 1957 at Washington University in St. Louis. They observed and measured masturbation and sexual intercourse in the laboratory setting.
3. As pioneers, their research "dispelled many long standing misconceptions" regarding the human sexual response.
4. Six hundred and ninety-four heroic volunteers (382 female/ 312 male) braved 10,000 complete observed "cycles of sexual response"( and probably 50,000 unobserved) from 1957 through 1965.
5. The "Summer of Love" in 1967 or 1968 probably coincided with release of studies.
6. Study of human sexuality or sexology was greatly neglected due to puritanical social and religious values.
7. Masters & Johnson Institute engaged in the diagnosis and treatment of sexual dysfunctions and disorders from 1957 to present.

Homosexuality has been with the human race since the beginning of time. Men being aroused by men and indulging each other for sexual gratification has been part of our recorded history since ancient Greek society. Coaches and athletes from our earliest Olympics have engaged in homosexual relationships.

Socrates was reportedly in homosexual relationship with one or more of his students of philosophy. His student, Plato, wrote both favorably (Symposium) and later unfavorably (Laws)about the student/mentor sexual behavior. Plato's student, Aristotle in Politics, dismissed Plato's proposed prohibition of homosexual relations in Laws. Aristotle recorded that the barbarian Celts accorded homosexuality a special honor. The Scottish and Irish are the modern Celtic descendants.

Antiquity offers little recorded history about female homosexuality. Sappho was born on the island of Lesbos and was a lyric poet who wrote of infatuation, passion and love involving both genders. Sapphic and Lesbian were terms developed in the nineteenth century to describe female homosexuality.

Male sexual attention in Ancient Rome idolized the young male body. All Roman emperors took male lovers except Claudius. Hadrian had his Antinous. The Roman Legions spent much of their time engaged in foreign wars and found ways to satisfy their sexual appetites. Homosexuality was openly practiced in Roman society.

Homosexual prohibition began on August 6, 390 by death decree of the Christian emperor, Theodosius I, against passive homosexuals who were barbecued at the stake. The memory of Christian persecution was still fresh. Active homosexuals received a reprieve for one and one half centuries. Then, another Christian emperor, Justinian, worried about the "wrath of God" in 558 and made human sacrifice of all homosexuals from then onward. This was the legacy of the Holy Roman Empire.

Christian social domination successfully demonized homosexuality throughout the following millenia. Homosexuality was considered an abomination before God. The Rule of Law criminalized homosexual behavior through sodomy laws imposing harsh penalties for following natural inclinations.

Romantic and sexual attraction and behaviors between members of the human species are natural. As homo sapiens, we are blessed with the intellect to observe and record the behavior of other species and learn about our own species. More than 1,500 species have been noted to engage in homosexual behaviors.

Substantial minority populations have been known to be oppressed and marginalized in modern society through the criminal justice system and the medical industry. Homosexual behavior continues to be a crime carrying the death penalty in some parts of our global community. Until quite recently, homosexuality was stigmatized as a mental illness.

The terms describing sexual orientation as "heterosexual" and "homosexual" were employed in 1886 by Richard von Kraft-Ebing in his book titled Psychopathia Sexualis. He listed homosexuality as a deviant sexual practice and psychiatric disorder. Psychiatric medical circles judged homosexual individuals to have a relatively "stable sexual orientation" during the first half of the twentieth century and included homosexuality in its first Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) published in 1952.

The stigma of mental illness remained attached to homosexuality until the mid-seventies when the American Psychiatric Association, American Psychological Association and National Association of Social Workers all recognized:

"The longstanding consensus of research and clinical literature demonstrates that same-sex sexual and romantic attractions, feelings, and behaviors are normal and positive variations of human sexuality.There is now a large body of research evidence that indicates that being gay, lesbian or bisexual is compatible with normal mental health and social adjustment."

The World Health Organization (WHO) followed suit in 1990 and Chinese Society of Psychiatry did likewise in 2001 and removed homosexuality from its list of mental illness disorders.

While acknowledging the great damage, discrimination and stigma done to members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Community by the Psychiatric and Medical professions over the decades of their preeminent influence in society, there has been no acceptance of responsibility nor compensation forthcoming from the professionals who perpetuated the societal myths unsupported by scientific data. More than one century of harm by physicians, psychiatrists and social workers has been greeted with a monumental shrug of indifference. Now, this truly qualifies as pathological behavior and professional arrogance. Ooops! Who could have known?

The Royal College of Psychiatrists minimized their own role, saying: "This unfortunate history demonstrates how marginalization of a group of people who have a particular personality feature (in this case homosexuality) can lead to harmful medical practice and a basis for discrimination in society." Any refunds for endless psychotherapy sessions? I didn't think so.

Sexual orientation is primarily heterosexual in modern society with a statistical variance for bisexuality or homosexuality reported to range from one percent to twenty percent of the human population of seven billion. Twenty percent is more than one billion people. That's way too high to believe! Ten percent equals seven hundred million people. That's still very high. Five percent of the world population equals 350 million people. That's greater than the entire population of the United States of America and just can't be an accurate statistic. Well, five percent of the approximate 300 million population of the USA would be approximately 15 million bisexual and homosexual persons in America. That seems a small number beside the 175 million worldwide. British statistics have confirmed a six percent homosexual population. This is not an insignificant minority population or statistical variant. There is no closet large enough to contain such numbers.

In human beings, homosexuality is a romantic, emotional or sexual attraction between members of the same gender. It refers to an inclination, disposition and enduring pattern of behavior to pursue same gender relationships for romantic, emotional and sexual satisfaction of human personal and social needs primarily or exclusively with persons of the same gender. Defining homosexuality as a "sexual orientation" denigrates it as a human existence by over-emphasizing and highlighting its most private and least essential component element. It is not unlike saying that a heterosexual marriage occurs primarily for the purpose of mutual sexual gratification. This statement would also constitute an extraordinary intellectual distortion of the type not unfamiliar to psychiatric professionals.

Psychiatrists measure sexual orientation by a "sliding scale" along an exclusively heterosexual or homosexual continuum. Bisexuality and mixed-gender attraction are punctuated by asexuality which is more probably a response to undisclosed emotional or sexual trauma or other maladjustment than a sexual orientation, per se. Celibacy and virginity are more likely undisclosed sexual orientation or autoerotics rather than asexual persons. Sexual arousal perversions like pedophilia or bestiality may explain the nondisclosure by subjects. Any classification of homo sapiens by sexual arousal categories demeans the species. Would a "try-sexual" like myself warrant a separate and unique classification under some fetish? If I am naturally aroused by sunrise or the rising of the moon, must I be pigeon-holed by a classification of solarphilia or lunarphilia? Compartmentalizing and segmenting humanity in the name of scientific progress rises to the acme of antisocial behavior.

Scientific and medical misunderstanding is not a justification for further erroneous postulation and hypothesis. The scientific method has created a spate of "social science wannabe's". Scientific methodology can be applied to innumerable subjects without rendering the study of a subject to be a science. Medicine is an inexact science at best. Statistics compiled by centers for disease control have been effective in collecting and correlating raw data to medically diagnose and contain an epidemic. Pharmacology has been effective in developing solutions to manage symptoms but impotent with respect to the development of cures.

Understanding the human mind and thought processes is a laudable goal. Trial and error in the management of psychiatric disorders is often a process of "closing a barn door after the horse has fled the barn". Social bias must be removed from psychiatry to allow its evolution to a true science.

Some politically influential religious groups advance the view that homosexuality is unnatural, dysfunctional, immoral, sinful and criminal. Psychiatric research demonstrates that homosexuality is a normal and healthy variant of human behavior. The same scientific research principles can be applied to confirm that rigid belief in some religious belief systems is pathological, though normal, and commit itself to logic and reason rather than social accommodation.

Discrimination and prejudice against persons founded upon unscientific and biased psychiatric opinion held currently or historically, needs to be aggressively reversed. Only those in authority of the professional organizations responsible for the perpetuation of the harmful social myths are positioned to reverse the damage done.
